About Me
For as long as I can remember I have been creative, always
making or drawing something! At the age 13 I had a small greeting
card and gift business selling my products at fetes, craft fairs
and anywhere else I could get a stall!
Whilst at University I was
employed as Night Manager of a successful snooker and
pool hall in Croydon. This not only assisted with
my University fees, it also taught me a variety of valuable
skills including Licensed Retail laws, customer service
skills and basic food hygiene. I currently hold a personal licence
for licensed retail and was also nominated for employee of the quarter
several times whilst employed there.
Whilst at University
I was involved with a peer assisted learning program (PAL)
spending time with first year students, initially helping
them settle into university life and generally assisting with projects
and guiding them in the right direction.
After leaving University I
continued managing the pool hall whilst working on freelance
projects for various businesses, musicians, DJs and bars.
Included in my portfolio is a full page advertisement for Lovell Consulting
a capital allowance specialist, which was placed in publications
such as Estates Gazette and Taxation magazine. I created a brand ID
for Milkymans (urban music artist) seen on Channel U and MTV Base along
with other smaller brand identities and graphic work.
Since
leaving University I have also founded ‘Scratch London’ a
designer T-shirt company. I have designed several t shirts which
have been professionally printed and stocked in a couple
of designer outlets retailing at £35 each. I recently sold
a majority stake of the company, keeping a minority share. I
am still designing for Scratch London.
As a semi-professional
DJ I have linked my love of design with my enjoyment and
passion for music. One project I am currently involved
with is organising monthly nights for HKC Vodka Bar in
Portsmouth, designing flyers, posters and VIP vouchers,
in addition to providing the music. Inspiration for my work comes
from music artwork along with graffiti and street art. Although I have
never been a street artist myself I have always shown an interest in
the culture and find it truly inspiring.
I am also influenced by Japanese
graphics, particularly the branding of Maharishi (designer
clothing brand) who pioneered the use of disruptive pattern
material within fashion creating some amazing and often quite beautiful
camouflage patterns.
I am a highly focused person who enjoys challenges
and is always eager to learn new skills in and out the
design industry. I
am a dedicated team player who has natural leadership qualities
as well as being able to work independently.
